• You MUST send your passport along with your application as the Visa is placed IN the passport. Visa is issued at the discretion of the Embassy.
• An invitation including your host's status in the country, their name, address and phone number all must be included. It must be stamped by the appropriate authority in their country. If they are not Citizens of that country, please provide a copy of their status documents with your application. We accept faxed or emailed copies.
• Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the intended exit date and contain a sufficient amount of blank pages for entry stamps and visas.
• If the applicant wishes to extend the visa, proof of sufficient funds, accomodation and onward travel may be necessary. In order to extend the visa, it must still be valid. The length of extension would be decided by the local immigration office.
• You may be asked to undergo a medical and/or x-ray examination if:
- you are likely to enter a hospital or health care area (including nursing homes)
- you are likely to be engaged at an Australian child care centre (including preschools and creches)
- you are aged 70 years or older
- there are indications you may not meet the health requirement.
• Please submit 2 copies of the completed Visa application form, on plain bonded white paper, with the applicant's original ink signature.
• A travel itinerary showing entry/exit dates and your name and address must be submitted.
• A recent original bank statement must be submitted as proof of funds. It should be less than 30 days old and show the applicant's name, balance and account number. It must also show that you have a minimum of $1500 CAD.
• Please obtain a letter from your employer or school showing current employment or enrollment. If letter is from your employer:
- show number of years employed
- approval for leave of absence
- state that the applicant will return to work after journey.
If letter is from your current school:
- state that applicant will be enrolled in future courses after his/her journey.
Please send by fax (not email).
• You Must include 2 original recent passport photos. Photos must show a full front view of the face and must be taken against WHITE PLAIN background. Otherwise visa will not be processed. Do not attach photos with staples please.
• Application form 956, below (Appointment of a migration agent) MUST be filled out.
• If you are a Canadian, you will not need a visa as long as the following apply:
- transiting to a third country by same or connecting aircraft within 8 hours of arrival
- holding tickets with confirmed onward reservations
- holding documents required for next destination
- not leaving the airport transit lounge.
• You must provide a vialid Yellow Fever certificate if you arrive within 6 days of departing or transiting the following list of countries:
Africa:
Angola, Benin (Rep.), Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Rep. Chad, Congo (Brazzaville), Congo (Kinshasa), Cote D'Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sao Tome & Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan (south of 15 degrees North), Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia.
America:
Belize, Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Panama, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago, Venezuela.
• A notarized letter of consent from both parents or legal guardians is required for minors under the age of 18 who are traveling alone. If they are traveling with one parent/guardian they must provide notarized consent AND additional information/documentation to establish custody arrangements for the child.
